I am HAPPY because of Pharrell Williams
I am very Happy because of Pharrell Williams. Since I came to know about Pharrell Williams (still with the Neptunes and N*E*R*D) many moons ago and his brand of music I have always thought that he was a pretty cool guy with his artistic collaborations with other artist. Coming on the tail of his awesome 2013 collaborations with other musicians such as Daft Punk on “Get Lucky” and with Robin Thicke on “Blurred Lines” ft. T.I., now I know that with his new media 24HoursOfHappy concept Pharrell Williams is a Genius.
Pharrell Williams, also known mononymously as Pharrell, is an American singer-songwriter, rapper, record producer, fashion designer, and drummer. Williams and Chad Hugo make up the record production duo The Neptunes, producing soul, hip hop and R&B music. He is also the lead vocalist and drummer of rock, funk, and hip hop band N.E.R.D, which he formed with Hugo and childhood friend Shay Haley. He released his first single “Frontin'” in 2003 and followed up with his debut solo album In My Mind in 2006. He will release his second album in 2014.

My resolution this New Year 2014 is: I am embracing a New Year, New Ways of Doing Things and a New Me.
In view of this, one of my first blog post would be to appreciate the awesome work of fellow creative artist, musician and producer Pharrell Williams. I have heard his latest release titled Happy late year. I have heard it numerous times been played in the local radio stations and every time it comes on I start to bop, clap and dance along to it. But it was only a few days ago I heard this DJ mentioning and recommending that his listeners to go and watch 24HoursOfHappy.com where a non-stop 24-hour music video of the song Happy has been created. I was curious. Did I hear him right? Did he just say the music video would be playing all hours of the day on repeat? That does not make artistic sense. Would that not be a waste of website bandwidth and incur a huge bill for Pharrell. I decided I must check it out and see what the story is.
I did check it out and it was nothing like what I had envisaged. The concept is actually very unique, simple, catchy and mesmerizing. And this is also one of the reasons why the Internet is one of the best inventions of mankind and we must keep it free and available to everyone in the World. The young tap dancing girl with braids, the fellows in green (10:44pm GMT) and blue (10:54pm GMT) t-shirts were really rocking the music and I was on my feet clapping and dancing along with Pharrell at 11:00pm GMT because I was very happy. His dance moves were awesome. It was very difficult for me to close the tab of my Firefox web browser because I was so captivated by the music video. I wanted to see what happens next. I won’t spoil it any further for you. You will just have to visit the Happy site yourself to see what I mean.
When I am writing I usually like listening to music playing in the background. I don’t like too much of a quiet atmosphere around me. I like some organised noise in the background even if I am studying for a tough exam. A beautiful sweet music fits nicely into that space. Depending on my mood I listen to an eclectic collection of music which could be anything from Jazz, R&B, Hip Hop, Rap, Naija, Soul, House, and Country to Gospel. Music complements the creative process of writing fiction because it helps your mind to travel to another part of your subconscious mind. The right music playing softly in the background titillates and stimulates the links subconscious links between our mind and that of God from whom all creativity comes from.
This song Happy by Pharrell Williams exemplifies all the ingredients required in a great product – simplicity, catchy, upbeat and a positive message song. This year has already started on an upbeat note already with this song. I have decided to adopt this song as my inspirational song for this New Year 2014.
In my humble opinion the Citizens of our World need a lot of Happiness right now from all the 24-hours bombardment of SAD news from around the Globe. I must say that this non-stop 24-hours Music Video of his latest release is just the right medicine for me (at least temporarily for the 30 minutes I spent watching it.) You will need to take a full day off work though in order to watch the full 24-hours video footage.
However, I can’t stop bobbing my head, jumping up & down and tapping my feet as I listen to this very catchy song and watch the sweet music video. I am on a high right now because my Happiness Level shot up to 100 as I was watching it. Thank you Pharrell for your own little contribution to my happiness.
